Rounding up Network Coverage of the Events at the U.S. Capitol

Networks also went to their contributors, who were shocked and in disbelief of the events transpiring.

Wednesday was supposed to be a day when news networks in the United States provided coverage over the Electoral Tally. In the end, they shifted reporting as they began chronicling the siege by a pro-Trump mob.

Once the riots ensued, networks transitioned into the breaking news format usually reserved for foreign wars, natural disasters, or terrorist attacks. When they went to their correspondents on the ground, shaky cameras and shocked correspondents is what they witness.

Networks also went to their contributors, who were shocked and in disbelief of the events transpiring.

“This is the most significant breach of an American government institution since the War of 1812,” said Chad Pergram, the veteran congressional reporter on Fox News. “The mob upended American democracy today.”

Despite the news media outlets having people and footage from the ground floor along with commentary from contributors, the most shocking feeds they aired were from C-SPAN’s static cameras.

From this footage, the networks showed their audiences Vice President Mike Pence was abruptly ushered off the Senate floor by security forces and legislators reached for gas masks. Some law enforcement officials were also on camera where they had guns drawn towards rioters storming the Capitol. “This is the most significant breach of an American government institution since the War of 1812,” said Chad Pergram, the veteran congressional reporter on Fox News. “The mob upended American democracy today.”

Piers Morgan Explains Good Morning Britain Exit To Tucker Carlson

“Morgan also gave aspects concerning his decision to depart the show, which came down to his unwillingness to apologize for his comments on Meghan.”

Former “Good Morning Britain” host Piers Morgan made his first public appearance since departing the show last month when he was a guest on Tucker Carlson’s Fox Nation show “Tucker Carlson Today.”

The Hill relayed the comments from the interview as Morgan didn’t change his stance on criticizing statements made by Meghan, Duchess of Sussex, and her husband, Prince Harry, during their interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Furthermore, Morgan touched on what happened on the morning show’s set when weatherman Alex Beresford confronted him on the comments directed towards the couple.

“It was an outrage. I wasn’t allowed to have an opinion that I didn’t believe what she was saying, even though it was clear to me in real-time as I was watching the interview that there were a number of things which couldn’t be true,” Morgan told Carlson.

“I was angry in the moment that he was trying to personalize this, make it I had some personal vendetta about Meghan Markle, which I don’t. And I came back. And we then had a pretty lively and quite enlightening, like half hour debate about this.”

Morgan also gave aspects concerning his decision to depart the show, which came down to his unwillingness to apologize for his comments on Meghan.

“I should be able to be a journalist and question the veracity of those statements. And frankly, I should be allowed in a democracy that values freedom of speech; I should be allowed to say, I’m sorry, I don’t believe you. But I wasn’t. I wasn’t allowed to do that,” Morgan said.

CNN’s Brian Stelter hailed Hunter Biden’s new memoir as “extraordinary” and “breathtaking” during his show Reliable Sources Sunday.  Among the revelations in his new book, the 51-year-old son of the president writes that he first bought crack cocaine at age 18. He first fell in love with alcohol in high school and started drinking heavily after work in his 20s.

“I’ll tell you what, I’ve read a lot of memoirs, I’ve never read a memoir like this one before,” Stelter told viewers. “Take out the last name Biden, this is about addiction, and how to help people and it’s going to resonate for that reason.”

Biden writes that his addictions entered a particularly dark phase after Beau died of brain cancer in 2015.

“You’ve heard all the tabloid coverage, you think you know his story, we know that right-wing media is obsessed with him,” Stelter said. “This book. This book is about addiction. About how many times Hunter Biden could have died, the president’s son, it’s breathtaking.”

President Joe Biden’s son Hunter dodged several questions in a new interview about his laptop that was seized by the FBI in 2019.

Hunter Biden told CBS News in an interview clip released on Friday that he has “no idea whether or not” the laptop belongs to him, but acknowledged that it was “certainly” a possibility, before raising several other theories.
